Barba Bagnata Spinoni was started in California, where I was a native. I moved to Virginia, USA many years ago, when I purchased 4 acres for my horses and the Spinoni that would come.

In the late 90’s, I had 2 Golden Retrievers, but wanted to find another breed. I was raised with German Shorthair Pointers, but loved wired coats and beards. My friend, Wiggy, was good at internet searches (before Google) and I asked her to search wired coat hunting dogs or Griffons. The 2nd result she sent me was a Spinone. His name was Ace, owned by Kevin McGrew. I then worked to learn as much a I could and made arrangements to fly to Virginia to meet some breeders and see some Spinoni in person. I met Guido Malandruccolo and got on his puppy list. I got my first Spinone, Mia, early the next year.

The rest is history.
